2018 Adelaide Hills Doll & Teddy Bear guild annual show

This week my daughter & I went to the annual Doll & Teddy Bear show.
This years show was only small, but they still had very well made entries, & enough trading stalls to make it worth while.

The competition theme was "A Night at the Opera"

My favourite entry, a miniature room box.

The Competition Entries

Cutest entry in my opinion

My Daughter is a teddy bear fan, & there was a trader there who makes all her own Teddies, she said she has about 400 in her house!

More Teddy stalls

Opal Babblebrook & her Aunt Lilly Bobtail accompanied us to the show & helped us find & pick out some miniatures to take home. I have a feeling these rabbits were thinking mostly about what Rocky & Crystal needed when picking things... oh & we found some new fabrics for the Brambles to use, trying to persuade them to steer away from the satins & silks popular so in town...

Opal & Winter's Autumn Adventure

Opal & Winter's Autumn adventure

This is a joint story by myself & my 5 year old & 2 year old sons.

one sunny Autumn day Opal Babblebrook was wandering around a park

then she met her friend Winter Evergreen

suddenly there was a loud noise nearby & a car appeared through the bushes!

& then another

& then there were more! Poor Opal was so surprised she fell flat on her face!

Opal & winter decided to move away from the noisy cars.
Look it's a giant hopscotch game, the squares are bigger than we are!

Come Opal I can hear those noisy cars again, let's climb this log to get away...

What on earth is that!!!

Oh no, I'm surrounded

Opal started climbing a tall tree. "Winter, they won't be able to reach us up here."

"Um Opal, are you sure about that?"

"Mm, I might have to rethink this!"

"here come the cars!"

"Let's walk through this long grass & maybe they won't follow us here."

"look I found a mushroom"

"Actually, I think it's a toadstool..."

"Here is the tallest, most difficult to climb rock, surely those cars can't get up here! Or can they?..."

"Please Stop running away," said the cars "We just want to be friends."

"Ok, lets be friends" said Opal & Winter

THE END

DIY Tree

Recently I started making a tree house out of cardboard boxes, tin foil, masking tape, & paper towel dipped in glue.

You can find the tutorial for it on YouTube, just look up "Where the Gnomes Live"
These are my progress photos!

Cedar Terrace & Town series buildings comparison

This week I bought a second hand Cedar Terrace, a building I have been wanting for quite some time.
I decided to compare the new Town series building to it & see how different they are.

The first 2 floors are nearly the same height, but the 3rd/ top of the town building is slightly higher.

adding a third floor to the Town building makes it considerably higher!

Another difference I noticed is that although the Cozy/Daisy/Sycamore cottage sits perfectly on top of  2 town buildings (or the department store when it is closed over) the Cedar Terrace is actually a little wider & hangs over. I was surprised by this as the Cedar Terrace is supposed to be connectable with all the buildings that the Cozy Cottage is (I assumed they were the same base width)

In all I'm still very happy with this building, & am now trying to decide if I want to customize/paint & decorate it. And for those wondering of the new Town series will fit in with the current collection (Beechwood Hall, Cozy Cottage, Cedar Terrace etc..) I think that they look rather good together & I cannot wait to get more of the new Town Series myself!

(by the way I forgot to take pictures, but the Town series buildings are half the room width of Cedar Terrace & Cozy Cottage. For those who were wondering.)
